Key Features

PERFORMANCE

For a budget-friendly treadmill, the XTERRA Fitness TR150 Treadmill runs surprisingly quietly. Even when running at higher speeds, many users found that this treadmill is perfect for those early morning runs without walking up the entire household.

While some found that the front plastic casing sometimes rubbed against the belt while in use, it produced a soft squeak that is slightly annoying, but not very loud. Besides, good pair of headphones is a good remedy for this slight annoyance!

It’s also built with a 2.5 horsepower motor which is good, but not great. Typically, motors under 2 HP are built more for walkers, while 2.5 HP motors are geared more towards joggers.

If you are an avid runner and you love to go fast, the weak motor may not be able to keep up with you over the long haul. If you consistently push your motor to the limit on your daily runs, you may risk burning the motor out prematurely.

To ensure the life of your motor, it’s best to keep your speed settings at a walking or jogging pace as you train.

ADJUSTABILITY

There are a few ways that you can adjust the treadmill to amp up the difficultly as needed. At the base of the unit, there are three different incline settings that allow users to adjust the pitch of the belt to make their daily runs a little more challenging.

To make adjustments to the incline of the belt, you will need to dismount from the treadmill and make your adjustments from the floor. Simply pull the pin out from the base of the unit and move the treadmill to the desired incline position. Once your belt is adjusted, pop the pin back in place and climb aboard to begin your training session.

I also love that this design makes it a cinch to find that perfect stride for your fitness level. It can reach top speeds of around 10 MPH, and the simple display allows you to adjust the speed by .5 increments to help find a speed that feels like your natural running speed when running outdoors or on the track.

Often, when treadmills can only be adjusted by 1 MPH increments, you may feel that you can’t quite find a stride that feels natural. With the speed adjustments on the XTERRA Fitness TR150 treadmill, this won’t be an issue.

DISPLAY

The 5-inch onboard screen display isn’t overly fancy or advanced, but it provides runners with all of the important information needed while on a run. The screen displays your speed, time traveled, distance, and calories burned.

The built-in heart rate monitor also shows you your heart rate to ensure that you are always training in the zone.

You can quickly pick a speed from the top speed bar with numbers that range from 1-10, or you can make more targeted adjustments to the speed using the up and down speed arrows at the base of the onboard display.

What I also love about this display is that it’s super easy to select from preprogrammed works. The workouts offered on this machine range from beginners all the way up to advanced runners. You can start low and slow, and work your way up to harder training sessions as your endurance increases over time.

The 12 different workout programs are displayed on the sides of the screen, and all your need to do is login which workout you want to try and then hit the start button!

Once you get started, your treadmill will automatically adjust the speed of the belt as you travel through your workout.

SIZE

If you are working with limited space in your home gym, this treadmill is a great choice. Once assembled, it measures to be 63.4-inches long, 28.75-inches wide, and stands up to be 51.4-inches tall. When folded, this treadmill measures to be just 28.5-inches long, and 61-inches tall.

While you will clear up quite a bit of floor space once it is folded, it’s important to note that this design gets a little bit taller once the belt is folded up against the center console, which may make it difficult to store it in a closet.

The belt on this design measures 16-inches wide and 50-inches long, which is a little on the small side.

Many users found that they were able to maintain their normal gait cycle while using this slightly narrow belt, but if you have a wider frame you may run into problems.

Some users felt that they needed to adjust their natural gait cycle to prevent their stride from hitting the side of the belt. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s something worth mentioning.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

There are a few additional features built into this treadmill that will make your runs just a little more enjoyable. It provides runners with a book or tablet rack just below the console screen.

You can place a tablet on the rack and load up a workout on your favorite workout app, or burn through a Nexflix series (which is my favorite thing to do on a treadmill!) It’s important to note that if you use the tablet rack, it will cover up your progress screen.

When you need to check in on your progress, users will have to move the tablet or book that is blocking the screen.

It’s also super helpful that this design includes a built-in heart rate monitor into the handlebars of this design.

When using this onboard heart rate monitor, it’s important to note that it isn’t entirely accurate. It’ll provide you with a general idea of your heart rate as you train, but it doesn’t provide pinpoint accuracy.

If you need a more accurate heart rate readout, it’s better to invest in a fitness watch or a dedicated heart rate monitor that straps right to your chest.

PRICE

One of the best features of the XTERRA Fitness TR150 treadmill is that it comes in at a super affordable price point. If you are on the hunt for a great treadmill on a budget, this is an excellent choice.

While there are certainly a few brands that offer designs at a lower cost, these options don’t quite offer the same high-performance ride and advanced features found on this option.

If you need a treadmill that is strong and secure and runs quietly, this design is one of your overall better choices.

Verdict

If you are on the hunt for a great cardio machine that will help your stay active and shed calories, the XTERRA Fitness TR150 treadmill is a great choice that will not drain your bank account.

It boasts a detailed center console display that shows you all of your training progress, and even comes with pre-programmed workouts that are designed to advance as you increase your overall endurance.

It also boasts a slim frame that won’t take up a lot of room in your home gym. When you need to clear up floor space for weight-training days, the belt of this design is easily folded up against the central console.

With a 16-inch belt, some users with a wide gait cycle may need to slightly adjust their stride to ensure that they don’t hit the side of the treadmill as they run.

While this design suffers from a few missteps such as the narrow belt and weak horsepower, you may be more willing to forgive these slight issues when you notice the incredibly affordable price point!

For those that need a simple a reliable cardio machine to build endurance and shed pounds, the XTERRA Fitness TR150 treadmill is worth a look!
